Capitán Suizo’s 39 units are set beneath native trees and nestled between rich, organically maintained tropical gardens, which home and attract a wide variety of wildlife.
The property is connected to an extensive protected area through a biological bridge formed by native trees, which allows the fauna passage and provides habitat for many species. Birds, howler monkeys, gray and green iguanas, squirrels, geckos and raccoons can be spotted almost every day. With some luck, nocturnal wildlife such as porcupines, skunks, armadillos, and ant-eaters can also be seen.

Capitán Suizo is a family founded and run Hotel. The Schmid family moved from Switzerland to Costa Rica thirty years ago with the vision to create a Hotel with a relaxed and cheerful atmosphere where guests, as well as the employees, would feel totally happy. In our fusion gastronomy, we combine international cuisine and traditional Costa Rican cuisine, adding seasonal tropical ingredients. The hotel's philosophy is to use fresh and organic ingredients whenever possible and in our kitchen, we make sure to reflect this with each dish on our à la carte menu, using authentic high-quality products to create healthy, fresh and light dishes with exquisite flavor.
The swimming pool has been shaped to incorporate the trees around it. The pool area has a lot of shady, as well as sunny areas to enjoy. Surrounded by the shade of native trees and palm trees, this is the perfect area for sunbathing, reading a good book, drinking a cocktail or simply relaxing on the lounge chairs.
